My first project in ages! I finalls decided to get back into modelling now that i've got some spare time on my hands. :grinyes: On my first project i decided on a fairly OOB Fujimi 599 - no particular reason, just a nice car! the kit is nicely detailed, sadly some mistakes i need to correct. but nothing impossible for me, i hope. :naughty:
Going to add KA Daytona seats (nice resin cast, not much to clean up in my opinion) and some aftermarket carbon by Crazy Modeler. Also i've ordered some masks for the windows as i HATE doing this part of modelling on my own :loser:

some reference i printed for doing the interior:

i will be going for creme / carbon combo. not sure about the color, maybe a ton of blue or yellow - surely not red.
Off to a slow start, closing the license plate holes (they are in the wrong place + i want to build it without plates anyway). using mr.white putty this is a matter of minutes.

that's all i have so far, next up is sanding the body and applying the primer - progress pictures to follow! it's really hot here today and i do not feel motivated to continue, waiting till it cools down a bit. :licka:

quick questions for you, not related to modeling - is that a picture of YOUR C63? If so, please share your experiences with is - as it must bit a bit faster than my CLS55

sadly not. i checked it out (price wise and espacially size), i'm too big for the c-class (2,00 m), just don't fit in comfortably. (still it is sort of my "wish i had it car, cause it is definately affordable and the combination of the 6.3 engine in the small limousine is just brilliant!) i am looking for a replacement to my now pretty aged v, but i think i might be heading torwards a e-class t-model (not amg, you just can't pay for the gas)
just some small progress i could pull of, windows masked and painted

+ closed holes sanded down

oh and i couldn't resist and ordered a photoetch set for it, i looked at the cover parts for the vent holes and the break discs and it just looked so awful, i can't put it together like this :D
and i could use some assistance:
the dashboard is 50% covered in carbon fibre. i've never worked with carbon decals over such a big area with many curves, what is the best way to do it? use microsol and cover with one big piece + cut after application? cut pieces and apply then? i am mainly concered about the round vent holes....:headshake

Hi, nice project to start with...the popular 599GTB!
say, did you ever thought of the revell variant before you got this fujimi kit?
i do have a revell kit & though i have not open it up to see the contents, the thought of a full engine alone can drive me high!
i'm still waiting for someone to build the 2 makers' kits side by side to see just which one is better / accurate.
anyway, what's the color you going to paint on this ferrari if it's not red?
keep posting...i'm watching!:evillol:

considered it, yes, but went for the fujimi one as i wanted to see how and if their quality improved since i last tried a kit manufactured by them ( a silvia s15 back in 2003 or 2004)
photoetch parts arrived today :)

i started on the brakes, will have to build new calipers, old ones just won't fit and look way too small

I covered my dash with KA models carbon fiber decals.I found the best way for me was to custom fit each peice.I used Gunze Mr Mark softer and Gunze H 78 Metal Black to touch-up.Heres some pics.

nice model there, thanks for the tip! started working on the calipers
1. cut old ones apart, widened / put strength support in them with styrene
http://s7.directupload.net/images/080701/dzfbhr2g.jpg
http://s5.directupload.net/images/080701/odtadhh9.jpg
2. cut away what's not needed
http://s3.directupload.net/images/080701/yhfmoz7l.jpg
3. added putty, after it's dry of to the sanding :iceslolan
http://s5.directupload.net/images/080701/odswgs66.jpg
confident they will turn out decent
