The High Side A/C Charge Port Valve does not seal correctly and leaked out all the gas. I want to replace the valve but I need to know if it can be unscrewed from the A/C Line? The Port does have a Hex on it but it is hard to turn and I don't want to break the line. Any Suggestions would be Appreciated. Thanks

usually the valve inside the port is the problem. It unscrews like a valve stem core. Just be sure to replace it with one for an a/c system.

The valve does not appear to be a Schrader type. It has a spring loaded ball visible in the fitting. It looks as if the whole fitting must be removed.

This what you got??? If so, the entire valve can be replaced.
In the two-piece design, the aluminum top portion of the valve is threaded to the bottom part and sealed with an O-ring seal. The valve seal is an integral part of the aluminum fitting piece which must be replaced if the seal leaks.

Thanks for the Help - The fitting did unscrew from the A/C line. I did however, have a problem locating the part (Even from the Ford Dealer) but ended up at the local salvage yard and took one from one of the numerous Taurus vehicles in the yard. A great benefit of owing an older Taurus - inexpensive used parts availability.
