1992 4.0 Jeep Cherokee Laredo How to turn of maintenance required light?

I'm sure this question comes through a lot. Does anyone know how to turn off the maintenance required light on this thing? I've been told to just take the light out but wanted to check for a better way. Thanks...

There is what is called a Maintenance Timer under the dash near the center console. You can replace the timer and it will come back on when the next service interval reaches the number of miles.

Most people just unplug the timer electrical connection or remove the bulb as you stated.
