An Introduction and noob question

Well first off, I'm Zack. I live in central California and I drive a '95 Firebird Formula. I've been in a few races but nothing set up just red light fun. I love all types of racing MotoGp, F1, Air races.

Now that that is done with here is a question. No one I know with a decent car street races. The only people I can find to race are 4 banger Hondas and the like.Except for my buddy who has a 68 camino with a 350. Every fri/sat night a bunch of people gather at a local taco bell to set up races but again, they are all low displacement N/A cars. When my friend with the camino and I roll up to taco bell everyone just acts like they don't see us. We go and talk to people but no one is down to race us. What are your tips on how to find decent matches. I've been thinking about going to this car club called No dues cruisers but most of those people are old guys with gt500's and Z06's.

Tip- drive around till you see something u wanna race. Instigate.

never underestimate the power of the 4-banger :)

just drive around and instigate people, like GForce said. If you see a decent car, slow down and toy with him a bit. So he gets the picture. Most of the time I do that it works out quite well in the end. Especially when they dont know what you have under the hood :D

Just be mindful of unmarked cars. This is why I always wait for ppl to mess with me, but every since I got the Mustang no one wants to play anymore :(
When I had a Cobalt kids were always messing with it...I think it was the wing.

Lesson learned: If you want people to race you, attach a large wing to your car.

Ive been pulled over for "reports of speeding in the area" because of my damn wing. It also attracts alot of people reving at you. Most of which dont know what they are getting themselves in to

best tips? learn about those n/a 4 bangers, make them think they are fast by talking to them about how awesome their cars are, and do not talk about your own. The second you seem condescending or indifferent to them, you will lose all interest. When you've got them feeling good, go in for the kill.

I could put bus lengths on my friend's 305 RS Camaro. Then again its a high 16 second car...

and the sleeper is the biggest mistake most people will make. Dont be fooled!

:1: yeah it sucks. sometimes i go out driving for an hour or so on fri/sat night with the hope that i'll get at least ONE race in..i usually end up thoroughly dissapointed tho.

thats because even car retarded people know not to mess with a car with a BOV. Its a law of nature. Same thing with a large V8 also has the same effect, so both of you guys are just SOL :(

He speaks the truth. Whenever some ricer or douchecanoe in a V6 Mustang or whatever starts pacing me and I'm not in the mood, I just put the clutch in, give it a good rev and let the BOV off. They usually back off after that.

By the way, when filming the movie "Bullitt," the Charger ran circles around the Mustang. They had to put skinny underrated tires on it to slow it down.

A good drop of a gear and a quick tap of the gas pedal that lets them hear my baby scream-powered engine makes most give up hope.

MOPAR knows what they are doing, I have to admit. As much as I love Ford. But the new Bullitt is pure sex. I have seen one in person and it is a machine of beauty.

I was close to buying a new Bullitt... very close. I love that car with a passion.

Just, the utility of 4-doors is sooo much more easier to live with on a daily basis... the G8 made more sense. But, I drive past the Ford dearlership everyday and I see them... and I weep inside. :(

you would think that...altho my 2-door car is the first one that everyone wants to take. it's noticeably slower when i'm ridin 4 deep too, so i hate luggin a group of ppl around.

I dont make my friends pay for gas unless we are going on a long trip, but its a good thing that the people who have 4 door cars are always offering to drive haha

And yes, the new challenger SRT-8 is absolutely gorgeous. Quite the beast. Not very spendy either, a fully loaded SRT-8 is high 30k which isnt bad considering what you are getting.

I cant stand the new challenger. Way too heavy and akward body proportions.

The new camaro will blow the challenger out of the water in every way. Hell, Id take a new mustang gt over the challenger r/t.

I've had my car since September, and it already has 22k on it. My buddy who just bought a Speed3 about two months ago has five thousand miles on it. My roommate from college with the IS250, got it two Januaries back...has 9803 miles.

yeah the new challenger is a tank (over 4100 lbs :thumbsdow), not to mention 13/18mpg...i mean the car looks sleek is hell, but ew.

236,000 is pretty amazing. Mine isnt going to last me to 75k with the way I drive it :D
