bad sputters

hey im having a little tubble with my 86 mustang it has a new cam it sputters when trying to accelerate and when i take a turn at normal speeds it wont accelorate then the exsost will backfire or pop then its back to normal i talked to friends some said fuel pump and some didnt think it would cause it i dont know so any suggestions thanks

if you have a carburator it could be flooded.

In 1986 the EFI on the mustangs was Speed Density, run by a map sensor. The SD cars do not take well to modifications. What cam did you put in it? The computer is not programmed for the cam change and is either feeding way to much fuel causing it to load up at part throttle or not enough fuel causing it to go lean and stumble.

yeah that sounds about right but the guy before me put it in and i have no clue what cam it is but how would i adjust it to get rid of the problems

You would have to take it to a dyno shop and have a custom tune run on it.

o ok i was talking to my friend and he was saying to drill a quarter inch hole into the throttle body

That will just give it more air at idle.
