I thought I was taking a step up from my 1996 Blazer. Boy was I wrong. I basically gave the Used car dealer $5K AND MY bLAZER FOR JUST ABOUT THE SAME NIGHTMARES i HAD WITH SAID cHEVY. wtf. 1 week after the what i thought was a generous 30 day warranty check gauges came on. No oil pressure. Check dip stick no oil. Remove cap wich was kind of weird looking in its self. Loaded with crusty sludge. Underneath the truck was a coat of oil and tranny fluid. Man o man what have i got myself into this time. Creaking when idling over bumps. balljoints thumping. i gotta figure out what 2 do about this sludge b4 its 2 late. may already b 2 late. i spent a few hrs 2nite reading horror stories all over the net about these vehicles. any1 here going thru any of this or been there already?

Go back to the dealer and demand some money back. I would consider suing him. I'm sure was aware of the problem. You can try changing oil but no pressure I assume the oil pan has to be dropped and the strainer cleaned. This may also be bad bearings or a bad oil pump then a rebulid is in order.
You didn't test drive the truck and look at the engine pull the dipstick.
The ball joints weren't apparent.
With the price of gas you could trade it for a new one but you won't get anything.
It probably isn't worth anything at this point to you sell it to a person who does own repairs for parts.
A rebuilt Jasper engine and ball joints plus electrical repairs is going to really hurt your wallet.
You might also need new seals on the transmission.
Pay a mechanic to check any used vehicle you buy,

It was clean, I test drove it seemed used but in decent condition. the underbody was emaculate. wasnt leaking, nothing. had some rocker rust a rust spot on the back. Rust is nothin 2 me. I love body work. i mean pressure was good. then just all of a sudden bad. yesterday i reached under and thru a new filter on (MOBIL1)and put in 6 whole quarts of gtx high millege oil. just 2 get home. sits a lil over 40ish while idle hits 80ish when started now. Should i flush it with a seafoam type of product and refill it with Synthetic. Ill do the ball joints now b4 they go. i mean i had the shitty ball joints in my blazer and replaced them with the good 1's. and my friends blazer we drilled and istalled grease fittings in his joints. Already been to the Dealer and already being blamed for its problems. Wich is totally impossible. But im gonna have to take it 2 a mechanic 2 mar0. i was desperate for a car at the time tho. my blazer was just about done , rear main seal was blown. it just pissed oil all the time. i feel i was a tiny bit hasty in my purchase. i figured "MOPAR" cant go wrong with that. lol

I would watch it closely for leaks synthetic is more prone to find leaks. I found you can plug a strainer putting a quart of kerosine or transmission fluid in the oil. Check the Pcv system closely for and plugging. Clean oil cap &ect.
I am worried about how you lost 4 qts of oil. Were you running in 4WD in the mud?
Just change every 3000 miles oil and filter.

wow. now that u say 4wd hmmmm, everything was good until i put it 4wd for like literaly 2 minutes the other night. i hadnt used 4wd once since i bought it. and like a dum dum i put her in N and switch to 4wd 2c if i could hear it engage. in and drove it out of the driveway and then back into the drive way. then N and back to 2wd. next day low oil pressure. that couldnt b the prob, right? seems kind of far fetched. i dunno? oil tranny fluid everywhere hmmm. i think im graspin for anything at this point.

2000 and up Durangos had balljoint problems and there was a recall on them for that. You might want to check into a reman.a Jasper with a 3 year 100,000mile warranty or a Chrysler reman with a 3 year, 80,000 mile warranty.Remans are cheaper than rebuilding sometimes and check into this. The 4.7 is known for valve seats coming out of the head and the head is junk if this happens. An used 4.7 usually goes for about $1,500.00 with a 30 or 90 day warranty.
