Hello All,
I am a new user to this site and i really like it. Any who, my problem is that i have a clunk in the rear end when i come to a stop and leave from a stop when the brake is released. I have taken it to the dealer and they said that there is nothing wrong with it and everything looks fine. The problem is that I cant get it to make the noise when i take it in there. I feel that it is an inboard CV joint, because it only does it during the decel. Also, I have just developed a cherp in the engine compartment. It happens when i turn on the A/c and it drives me crazy. If someone knows what these problems are or can help me with them that would be great.
Thanks,
Jason

hello, not to sure on #1 but have you looked at the brakes you dont say so i'll assume drum brakes????look at backing plates for wearing & causing brakes to stick if looks ok then lube the plat where the shoe sits.
#2 sounds like a bad drive belt.year,miles,drum/dics would be helpful

I thought about the brakes as well, the "dealer" said that they were fine. I will have a peek at them myself. It is an 04 LS 4x4 with just about 43k miles on it. It is disc in the front and drum in the back.

Something wrong here the TB has 4 wheel discs, do you have a S10 TB, if so this is the wrong forum, this is for the new platform TB.

yea i had a brain fart, i have been working on my other car over the past week and it was on my mind. It indeed does have 4 wheel disc brakes, sorry about the confusion. When i got home today i decided to get under the truck and take a look around, it turns out that i have a bad universal on the drive shaft. That is what is making the clunk sound. While i was taking a look around i noticed that my trans. dip stic is completly rusted out and was broken half way down. Thank God that it didnt break off in the car. I am not sure why that would be rusted, that concens me. Any ideas??

I have a '05 Tb and mine does the same thing! Mine only seems to do it when i let off the brake, it almost feels like something is sticking. Also, i've noticed a chirping while slowing down, but i can't really tell where it's coming from. Any ideas?

well,
I was sitting in front of my house the other day shifting from rev to drive and back again. I did it many times and the clunk got worse. I had my dad listen and look under the truck to try and get an idea of what it was. He said that is was the rear universal on the drive shaft. That explained why it was making noise when i would put it into gear. As far as the clunking when i release the brake, just like what yours is doing, i am not 100% sure. I am hoping that fixing the universal will take care of all of that, but i wont know until i get it back from the shop. It is in there right now and i should have it back today or tommrow. The cherp is most likely the drive belt, easy fix. Hope this helps.
