I have a "95 Civic EX. I have a pedal lock for it that goes from the steering wheel to the brake pedal. I believe it is the Club brand. I am wondering how secure it is and whether it would be worth spending the money on a different kind.

I called a Honda shop, and they told me my steering wheel has a metal core. I wonder how easy it would be to cut through the wheel with a cordless angle grinder or a cordless reciprocating saw.

I see that there are some pedal locks that extend between the pedal and the floor, with a part that sticks up so so you can reach it. For that kind, it would not matter whether the steering wheel could be cut, because it does not even use the steering wheel. So, for that kind, the issue is whether someone could cut or break the lock itself, or possibly pick the lock. Shuck's has one called the Unbreakable Auto Lock for $64.99. Is that a good product? How secure is it?

Where do you live at? Because with all these securty measures were I live people would think I'm stupid. Plus they have a steering wheel lock built in. But yeah, where do you live?

I live in King County, which is where Seattle is. I live in the 'burbs. My neighborhood is fairly safe, and I have a garage. I have occasion to park my car all over the Seattle-Tacoma area. I may soon be parking it in a parking garage for a commuter train. That seems like a likely place for theives to be prowling. Also, I read somewhere that my car is the second-most-popular one with theives.

Anything dealing with the steering wheel is worthless. The steering wheel does have a metal core, but you can fairly easily cut through it with a simple hacksaw. I remember seeing an infomercial years ago about one of those gadgets you put on your brake or clutch pedal. They showed people cutting through or easily picking the locks of their competitors products. Obviously being an infomercial, it can't really be considered too valid. But basically if someone wants to steal a car bad enough, they'll take it one way or another. But one of those pedal locks and a good hidden alarm (horn inside and out) may deter someone from sticking around for too long, in a garage where someone could come and go at any minute.

Forget the club or any club-like device. Ever see this (http://www.clubbuster.com/)? If you want to protect your ride read thru this site first (http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com/version6/index.html). This will help you learn the basics of protecting your car. LoJack (http://lojack.com/lowjack.html) is expensive but is worth it’s weight in gold when you come out to a parking lot & see nothing but broken glass where your car use to be. If you’re insistent on throwing something on your steering wheel the disklok (http://www.disklok.com/)is pretty good. It protects your airbag as well.
