hey hey. its been a little while since i have posted, about 3-4 weeks ago i went and ran the spectator drags out at elko speedway. i won my first race against like a 93 94ish integra and my second race was against a late 80s camero. well i was ahead by a few lengths when i lost a bit of power and then i look in the rearview and i cant see out the rear window. well i blew the headgastet between cylinders 3and4. still only lost by about half a car length or so. still limped it home as it stoped smoking after it cooled down. so i figured since i was going in there why not rebuild the motor.
this was my first engine that i rebuilt and was ment to run afterward. i have done a few at school but they were all donated so you dont actually put them in a car and run them. everything went really smooth. all 4 pistons were broken in some way. 3 out of the 4 had the lands between the 1st and 2nd ring breaking out. the number one ring was sized on every one of them and or broken into segments. the second ring was the worst of them all every one was broken in half or worse.
funny thing is there was nothing in the pan or on the magnetic drain plug. it was all still working as well as it could even broken. car still ran fine but lacked power when vtec kicked in. other than that everthing was tip top. just did a stock rebuild nothing special. got it in the car today and it fired right up. i used bam bams method for engine brake in and it seems to work well. no oil smells or anything.
doing the valve seals was loads of fun though on the exhaust side. the valve spring compressor would hit the spark plug tube so you had to get it on there just right. needless to say i launched one retainer and spring into my fore arm witch wasnt really to bad but was scary as shit. haha put about 60 miles on it today. its is sweet not having a honda that burns oil. ive never experinced that before hahah. well sorry for the rambling. Sounds GREAT! Awesome feeling to do your own work huh? Not just dropping it in, but to really dig into the thing and have it spinning like a top afterwards.

Apparently... I burn a qt of oil every 10,000 miles or so... that's scary... I think my engine might be blown.. lol
Nah, I'm just lazy, and haven't changed my oil in a long ass time... not to mention that when you work 10-15 hours a day, drive an hour each way, you don't have time to change oil and shit regularly.
