Factory alarm questions on a 97 z24

I used the search buton but couldn't find anything helpful so here goes, When I got my cavi in january it came w/o the keyless entry remote so I bought one off of EBAY, it is the four button one with: lock, unlock, trunk, and panic. So I got the remote and programmed it. The lock, unlock, and trunk buttons all do their fxns and the interior dome lights come on. Now my queston is When I press the panic button nothing happens, so is there something wrong or is there just not an alarm system in my car? also, on all other cars that I've had with keyless entry (Fords) when you lock or unlock there is a horn honk and/or a parking light flash to confirm that you enabled/disabled the alarm or locked the doors, this car does none of that so, what's up? thank for any help.

there is no alarm, and there is no horn honk or light flash either, thats how its supposed to be. the remotes that are supposed to come with the car dont have panic buttons. panic didnt come on cavaliers till 2000 i believe
