so i found this z-24 at a junk yard that is the exact same color and year as mine and im going to basicly rip out a bunch of random stuff like window motor, clear bumper lenses, interior peices, wheels and tires but that z also has a sunroof in it that i want... how hard would it be to remove it and put it in my car? i was thinking if i sawzaw out the whole thing(basicly cut the roof off completely) i can remove it safely from the roof piece at my house and then me and my buddy who owns a car shop can put it in mine. how hard would that be to do cuz i really want one? what all would i need beside the window and all the parts and the rear view mirror with the maps lights on it? are there any special tools?

I am looking into this too........I wonder where the wires for the sunroof switch plug into also, and where the drain tubes go....i was going to get a whole sunroof assembly from a junkyard Z24 but dont know whats involved and how much the autoglass place would charge to cut the hole in my roof exactly to OEM measurements and drop it in so it would line up with the matching headliner......

i dont think it would matter where you hooked the power wire up to so i would hook it into the window power probly and as for drain tubes, where do they go normaly, i have never looked into a sunroof to see, lol

i dont think it would be too hard to cut a hole yourself if you just use the junkyard z as a template, trace the hole on cardboard making it smaller than the glass so you have something to work with and can make it bigger if needed, then trace it onto your car just making sure it is squared up, then use an electric sheet metal cutter to make the hole.

for the headliner you would have to take the headliner down and relocate the dome lights to the back which again does not seem too hard and then mount the new rearview mirror and wire it to the old dome light that you relocated, and just cut a hole in the liner to mount the sunroof and switch.

these are just my ideas on how it could be done, does anyone know if it would work?

it would be AWESOME if someone who has a sunroof can take there liner down and tell me where the wires and things go :)
