Check out www.sharkracing.com they specialized in Hyundai and Kia. There must be a lot of trick Kias in Korea, and it looks like from what I saw at Sharkracing, that there is a lot of them in Germany, since the German aero package company ATH makes spoilers and body kits for them.
My plans on my 2002 Spectra GS is to put on some nice 16s and high end tires, soon to follow with side checkered flag cut vinyl decals from www.awesomedecal.com. Just do the basic stuff on K&N filter, Bosch Plus 4 plugs, High flow Cat, sport exhaust, maybe some Eibach springs.

Melt, I just talked with my mechanic about your comment on 16 inch wheels. He is a former GTI owner, and now has a new 2002 Jetta. He did a lot of car shows, and had some really trick wheels on his GTI.
Anyway, true, 16s would lose a little torque off the line, but if the steel 14s were replaced with lightweight 16s, it wouldn't really make that much difference. Steel wheels are the heaviest. The car would handle better with 16s, and would look better.
The car has 108 ft/lb of torque, and there are a lot of cars out there with less, sporting 16s.
It would also make sense that a lower profile tire would weigh less than a higher profile tire.
When I am looking for wheels, I will be looking at them for weight and not for bling bling. I'm an RC racer, so I know that grams count.

Actually, cheap alloys are the heaviest... Steelies aren't actually that heavy. In fact, there are many lightweight steel wheels made for drag racing...
So don't hate on the steelies (don't remember who sai "Don't hate on my steelies!")

That is true. Plus steel wheels are more easily repaired. Weight was going to be my biggest concern. I don't want to buy wheels that way more. OZ makes some really good light weight wheels. I have been wanting some OZ wheels for years.

I have been debating what wheels I want for a long time, I have seen a few Spectra's driving around with 17's, they look kinda dumb, especially without being lowered a bit. I think 16 inches is the way to go. If you get rims soon, please post a pic, sounds like you share similar tastes and I need ideas :D

now, are you getting nitrous, on the brand NOS?? if you refer to it as NOS all the time, people are going to think you watched the fast and the furious to much. Call it NO2, or Nitrous, or refer to it as the brand name, I have seen to many get flamed for this. Just trying to give ya a heads up.

How's it going?
I have two questions for you, if I may ask.
First: The 143hp that you have in the bragging rights of the Street Kiaz site...is that crank or wheels?
Second: I have a friend who has a 2001 Sephia and she's looking into performance upgrades and is interested (among a lot of other things) in a turbo (she's trying to keep up with me!). On your webpage you said you had a turbo and intercooler and pipes, etc... We're wondering where you got them (website or local) and what kind of price range they were.
I appreciate the help!
And yes, I have to say your Sephia is one of the best I've seen! Very nice.

i've got a sportage i'm in the process of turbo charging, dropping, custom kitting, and then there's the unimportant things like the sound system, lights, etc. etc. etc. for more info on kias, check 4x4wire.com, they have a forum for the sportage and the sorento, also check streetkiaz.com, for a ricer flavor to things, kia-fx.com for performance parts, horacekia.com for oem parts, umm. . .i think thats about it for kias.

maybe i am wrong but i thought the older kias came with a mazda b6 and if that was the case then it would be almost a direct swap with the escort gt bp engine. then there would a lot of aftermarket support. these engine have been proven to push an couple hundred hp pretty easily. i dont know if this is true i am basing it off of when i wanted a b6 for my festiva and i was told i could get one from a early 90's kia

Streetkiaz.com is the best place to check out and see what is on the market for kias, there are tons of pics and advice there as well, shark racing really doesnt do much for the way of kias, one of the leading places is kfx (korean performance and accessories), they are constantly developing new parts specific to kia vehicles and are starting to work on hyundai as well...their website is www.kia-fx.com, check it and see whats happening....

lol, why? so we can have more recalls in a week, than a kia has in it's lifetime?
kias are decent cars. they definiteily have alot of potential, and people need to start accepting that.

Alright you've proven yourself I take all previous comments back! It may be easier than I thought to "soup" up a KIA, But, I've yet to find anything that is remotely "souping" a Kia. My thoughts of how you would go about it would include body kits, upgrade engines, bigger/better disc brakes, you know vehicle specific things not just a good paint job and a decent spoiler! Send me any websites that have Kia specific body upgrades or performance upgrades. [email protected]

www.kfxperformance.com would be the most reputable, with www.teamsr.com or www.evofusion.com or whatever they're going by would be second. www.andysautosport.com has a few things, but they're very unreputable, and www.hdkautosport.com used to have a larger selection, but they were also hard to get a hold of.

It runs a 13.9.. Not to mention that I also own a 1990 Lebaron that puts out 326hp and 396ft-lbs and bought the Kia as a reliable daily driver I just decided to do something to it. Oh and the lebaron runs a 12.7 in the quarter and it only cost about $8000 to build and buy the car.. You go find a "Real Sports Car" with those numbers for that price. Maybe trade in the 20 year old honda civic your parents bought you when you graduated high school.. Or maybe you should get back to studying for you science test seeing it is 10:15 on a Friday night and your mom is probally yelling at you to go to bed..

LOL. Sure. Those are your "online" times, right? Obviously a ghetto-tuner. I wouldnt brag about a LeBaron, no matter how fast you think it is, although probably better than braggin about a Psuedo-WRX. Maybe if YOU studied for your tests you would have a degree by now and would be able to afford a real sports car. I love making fools out of kids like you at the track.
