Hi
I have a 93 voyager which started to act up last week. Engine shut down while driving as if key was turned off and speedo dropped to 0 all other electrical seemed to work ok. In order to restart I had to turn off ignition, (put shifter in neutral)and then back on (speedo would work again)to restart. I could drive a few feet or more and then engine would quit again. Had to limp the van home like this. The van ran fine for a week afterwards with no problems, but now the problem has come back. I did notice that when this happens it isn't getting any spark. Also there are no codes by key method.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Could be many things. Is it a 3.3, 3.0, or 2.5 motor? 3.3 uses an all electronic ignition, while 3.0 and 2.5 use a distributor. Might be a bad computer or shorted wire. Worst thing is the problem is intermittent. Definitely sounds like it's electrical, and not fuel related. Speedometer is electronic, so when system loses power, speedometer goes to 0

it is a 3L. I took it to the dealer yesterday and they checked it over, they said everything was working as it should, no codes, nothing. I have wiggled all the wires I could, tapped all relays/sensors, dealer did the same and also hosed eveything down with water. I am also leaning towards it being the computer. What else would kill power to speedo and spark at the same time? The van will run all day long in park, only dies when it is moving.

Not sure this applies to 2nd generation vans but, you may have an intermittent open in the data bus. All the computers/modules use the CCD data bus to communicate with each other. This open can manifest itself as erratic instruments sometimes associated with stalling. Common fail points are bad solder joints on the instrument cluster circuit board connection and a connector behind the climate control panel. I've also read about an open in a wire harness running under or near the battery. Search the forum. There's plenty of info about it because it is a fairly common problem.
