Tranny oil pressure problem?

Blazer LT -98 4wd, 100tml, no codes..
Just after starting, when engine (tranny) is cold car feels lazy, I have to press gas pedal hard to get it moving. If I wait few seconds it works fine. This has not been the case before. Also sometimes I hear a slight grinding noise from tranny pump? or converter, expecially after been driven a long time. This noise appears only with first or second gear. Bearing?
Tranny oils and filter is changed couple months ago. Oil is clean and level, no burning smell. No problem shifting up or down.
Is this laziness oil pressure problem? Do I have to expect more serious problems in the future?
Grinding noise? Somebody told me that this is normal with this tranny?? Do I have to be worried?

Is the transmission slipping or is the engine power weak?
Does the engine rpm race up when it does it?
Drop the transmissionpan and check filter and for metal or clutch material in the pan.
Fluid level good engine running in park when transmission is full warm/hot?
I would also get a good engine/transmission scanner onit and check engine and transmission operation and data readings and for codes past and present.
And watch the transmission shift adaptive and shift errow seconds reasl close.
Post back any codes.

Any type of grinding noise is not good. When you shift it to drive, does it take a while to kick in, or does it engage, but its sloppy after that? For this I personally would throw a oil pressure guage on it and see what its doing.

When warm it kicks in instantly. When cold it takes a seconds to kick in. Noise is only when it's warm. I have to measure oil pressure; what should it be when cold/warm?

now it's getting odd. I had to insert tranny oil just to get it moving. Oil level is now about one centimeter over the top mark. With that it runs good but when getting hot it pours oil out of 'breathing' tube beside dipstick.??? It is like tranny filter is too high or leaking somewhere from the tube going up??
could someone please measure the height of the dipstick, just want to make sure that this dipstick is ok..
Any other ideas??

Check the transmission fluid level with engine and transmissiopn hot with transmission in park right after putting in reverse and drive.
Fluid should be in crosshatch area.

There should be no breathing tube beside dip stick.
Is it leaking out of the steel cooler lines?
The breather tube comes out of top center of case and should have a hose droping over the rear part of transmission.

Does it leak running or setting still?

I check oil level when car is idling and hot. I shift through all gears and leave it in park. Then I check the level. If I fill it so that the level is inside crossed area car won't even move. One quarter more and it starts working.??
And yes there is a breather tube just beside the dipstick tube and it leaking from there. It leaks when running and tranny hot...

If leaking or blowing out the vent it is getting to hot or slipping inside.
Not good.
Pull the pan and check filter and filter pickup seal.
Check for metal or clutches in bottom of pan.
Have a repair shop put on a good transmission capable scanner.
Post back any codes or what they find.

Fluid coming from the vent is not a good thing for sure. It could be its getting hot slipping and overflowing, like MT mentionsed, or it could be because its overfilled. Either situation is not good for the transmission. If you put more oil and it started to move, pul the pan and take a good look at the tranny filter, make sure its not cracked or damaged, and make sure the rubber/steel o-ring gasket is not damaged. If the filter or gasket is leaking, the tranny will be loosing pressure, and things like what you mention will occur.

Also check for the correct filter.
There is a deep pan and a regular pan on some.
Sometimes the wrong filter gets installed.
And if it has the hard thick reusable rubber pan gasket reuse it instead of the paper one in some filter kits.

Okey, problem solved. I dropped pan and down came the filter too. O-ring came with the filter and it seemed that either the o-ring was not installed correctly or it was not good one.
So I guess this is what happened:
It sucked air with oil and foamed oil forcing it out from breathing tube. This also explains why I had to wait for a while after starting.
I installed new filter and oil and it works good. Hope this didn't make any harm to tranny.
