So I took my Passport in for service and had these things done- full tranny service with new filters; timing belt, water pump, both axels rebooted, slip yoke splin re greased, serpantine belt replaces new Bridgestone Revos and new rock crawler rims, and new shocks.. The truck drove great for about 400 miles then the boom in the back started right back up.. this was my original reason for getting it serviced i was ready to run it up a tree, tires of hearing and feeling it boom.. everyone said this is a quick fix just drop the driveshaft and re pack the slip yoke or spline with grease... they did that now why would it be doing this again? also my rear wiper quit, and the passenger side door window is starting to get off track when it goes up.. I need a Toyota again... Is this the reason Isuzu never hit it big? Does anyone know why its booming again? If I cant get it resolved I gotta let it go..

What do you mean by *booming*??
Has the rear differential fluid EVER been replaced?
How many miles do you have on your truck, what year, and what engine are you referring to?
I've owned 2 Isuzu Rodeo's and 2 Toyota trucks, loved them all, but my Isuzu's have been less of a maintenance nightmare.
At 10yrs of age, my '85 Toyota p/up SR5 was already in need of a new engine, body frame was rusted to holy heck, etc. At 11yrs of age, my '97 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2L is in much better shape then some newer vehicles on this street, running with 185k miles on an engine that feels like it can go another 185k easy....only major problem on this truck was water pump failure 2yrs ago.

I also have experience with both Rodeos and 4Runners. Don't get a 4Runner. Rodeos are superior. The 3.0 Toyota V-6 loves to blow head gaskets.
And, I'm really baffled by 'booming' as well. Not sure what that means.

He is talking about the driveline thump. The for sure cure is a 1 piece drive shaft. The rear whipper issue is a know issue with the whipper chip in the alarm control module (see the faq's).

Isn't there some rubber that can be replaced back there to remedy the thump; a tranny mount or something else? EDIT: carrier bearing?
I've done 4 window regulators in 176K on the Rodeo, but 8 or so in my VW Jetta. All power windows fail if used a bit.

nrt79 - Is your truck lifted??
Could very well be the carrier bearing as mentioned, if you have a 1st generation Rodeo; i.e. 91-97yrs...in which, if the carrier bearing's bad, it will need to be replaced. This bearing is located in the center of your driveshaft, and yes, they can and do go bad with age.
