ok im doing the interior pieces to my 88 hatch while i have them all outta the car. heres my dilemma:
i have lots of smooth black vinyl, and even more red suede. my goal is to make my car up in the traditional JDR type-R style. champ white paintjob with a black vinyl interior, red suede recaro seats and door panel inserts, and red carpet. now comes my choice.
a friend suggested that i do this instead. go with the black vinyl on the lower half of the interior (we all know the dividing line on a stock civic), and then go with the red suede on the top half. i thought it sounded cool, but that it strayed from my original goal (which is to make a one off 4g type R).
a second problem comes in with the dashboard. as everyone knows, its a large plastic piece with two vinyl covered sections that are removable, but for some reason honda saw fit to epoxy them in with gallons of glue. so......should i fight with the glue and re skin each dash piece, or should i just say screw reskinning everything and paint and dye the pieces? i really wanna reskin, since itll be a lot nicer to look at as well as touch (i hate the texture thats on it now)
i also just got a JDM ITR MOMO steering wheel yesterday. (wow, that was a lotta abbreviations!)

I like the black on the bottom red on top idea. I mean no matter what a 4G will never be a Type-R so it's not like you are restoring an old muscle car back to factory specs, with this project it's all about how you want to do it.

true, sorta true, and true.
it is really about what i wanna do, but im not sure. i like both ideas. and about it never being a type R, it may not have ever come from honda that way, but trust me, its going to be the closest thing to a type R that a 4g has ever been. heres whats already on it, and whats going on it soon.
90 STD hatch (this one is wrecked and all of the following are going on the 88)
b16a (mild port and polish job) with 92 integra GSR tranny and PR3 ecu
skunk2 intake manifold (match ported to head and throttle body)
neuspeed header
2 1/2" stainless catback (made it myself with a focuz muffler and tip)
AEM fuel rail
AEM pressure reg
MSD blaster coil, modified dizzy cap, and wires
3" stainless intake ( made it myself)
hasport subharness, motormounts and shift linkage
neuspeed short shifter
complete CRX SI suspension swap (rear discs and all)
complete polyurethane bushing set
tokico struts on skunk2 coilovers
neuspeed front upper and rear upper & lower strut bars
neuspeed sway bars
recaro sport seats
black projector headlights
passenger side mirror
civic type R floormats
94+ integra center console
heres what i have sitting inside waiting to go on the 88 as well:
ACT street strip clutch and Xtreme pressure plate
JDM integra Type R MOMO steering wheel
97+ prelude black housing alteza style taillights
SiR spoiler
VIS racing OEM style CF hood
black housing corner lights (CRX style, the car has CRX fenders fitted to it for the front end conversion, its not too hard, and is a subtle change)
combat front bumper
the same side skirts and door caps that walt has on his civic
mugen back bumper (i wanted combat2, but the people sent me the wrong one, good thing they gave me a refund and let me keep the kit)
20 yards of red suede
15 yards of black vinyl
18" racing hart evos
the car is under construction, i have shaved the rain gutters and antenna, rough cut the tails in, and painted the engine bay flat black.
the car will be champ white, and if i can ever decide on the interior, ill finish that part too.
anyone else with opinions?

heres an update, i seperated the dash pieces. theres the upper section with the defrost vents, the vinyl just below that, the main dash piece, and the vinyl sections near the A/C vents. it was a pain to seperate, cause the glue holds strong even under heat and flames. but i finally got it by cutting between the glue and the pieces. the i dremel tooled all the excess glue from the parts.
i have reskinned a lot of pieces, and ill post a few pics when i have them finished.
