I think there is a way to thest the PCM but not sure how.Don't want to run out and replace first with out testing it.
The problem I'm having is that I'm getting a back fire and engine loads up.replaced the coil pack& cam sensor.Did a test useing a strobe light ( you know the one to time a car with) and while engine was running the stobe light was erratic there was a one to two sec pause befor the next lighting tested all 6 wires was erratic on all and when you rev up the engine it got worse the lght would flash very fast to hardly flash at on.and yes the wires are new autolight signature with bosh platnium plugs. So the test is pointing me to the pcm might be made for it controls the ignition coil. By the way this is a 1996 town and country lxi 3.8 liter.. no distributer cap on this one.
TXS 4 anyones help on this!!!

It might be the Bosch Plats. I've had trouble with them in everything I've put them into except VW's. Was it missing before you changed the plugs and wires? I am running NGK's in my Caravan and lot's of others like Champion Double Platinums in D/C vehicles. The guys on the Dodge truck forums like Autolite DP's for their applications. I'm giving you the sparky info in case I don't get back to your thread.
I don't know how to test the PCM, but I would test all the connectors first.

I need to know that answer also.. I have a 98 GC Sport, all opitions. crap campaired to my old 95 voyager. my problem with the 98 started with the cooling fans not comming on. I thought the ac needed some charge, but still not shure. It has a clutch on the compresser, with this round cover on the outside. I dont know if this should turn also when the ac is on or if its a clutch guard. When I unhook the thermostat for the fans on the upper engine, fans come on.....Also if I charge this ac system do I hook to the larger of the 2 ac lines, or the small one, My ac fill kit wont fit the smaller hookup..We just had the clockspring replaced last year, now this... Are old 95 we bought 6 years ago with 60,000 miles, Its at over 160,000 miles, the only parts I had to replace is a timming belt, front axle shaft, and front brake pads. It still runs as new, and trustworthy.. It has the 3.0 Liter that will blow the doors right off our 98. Hope we get the 98 fixed, if not It will have to go.

Hi, I am new to this and don't know how to make a new post. any help wold be great.

I have a 93 voyager which started to act up last week. Engine shut down while driving as if
key was turned off and speedo dropped to 0 all other electrical seemed to work ok. In order
to restart I had to turn off ignition, (put shifter in neutral)and then back on (speedo
would work again)to restart. I could drive a few feet or more and then engine would quit
again. Had to limp the van home like this. The van ran fine for a week afterwards with no
problems, but now the problem has come back. I did notice that when this happens it isn't
getting any spark. Also there are no codes by key method.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Sam

dandycamp & samman85 - neither of you should have made a post on this thread since neither of your issues are related to the subject line "How to test the PCM" . Suggest you repost your issues in their own thread. You'll get more exposure and a better chance to get an answer. How? Open the Caravan forum and click "New Thread" at upper left. See you there with an answer.

EDIT - Make sure the title you use is related to the issue not the vehicle meaning don't say just "98 GC SPORT" or "93 Caravan". Instead say "98 Cooling Fans" or "93 Engine Dies". We already know you have a Caravan since you're on the Caravan forum. This makes it easier for folks to find a particular subject when searching threads.

Just update on my 98 Grand caravan.. It was the blower relay, down by the air cleaner. The ac I charged on the lowside, located by pullys "not up front thats high side"" big line " anyways its blowing ice now. Hopefully now no more trouble.
