Almost had to shoot my geo

Drove my 92 metro into my garage this morning and hit the little edge like always and heard a load bang from under car. Thought the exhaust had fell down and hit the ground. Wrong. The rear control arm on rear axle had ripped from the frame. And was now inches from the ground. Backed it out slowly and put it in my shop. When I parked it the rear tire was almost touching the back fender. Thought great here I sit with a busted geo and 4 dollar gas:crying: . Got the jacks out and proceded to see what I could do. After a little jacking and prying I was able to get it back in place. Found a small spot with some good metal and tacked that. The started looking for some solid metal to weld to. Found some and cut some strap iron to fit and started welding. Not the easiest welding laying on your back and looking up at an angle. Luckly I am not to bad with my mig welder. I'd say she is as good or better now than before. I'll keep an eye on it now and if it looks like it needs some more reinforcing I'll get after it. Like I said almost had to shoot to as it had a broken leg.

Any chance you took some pictures? While I haven't had this issue it would be nice to be ready in case these gremlins should show up on mine.

Didn't take any pics. Looks to be the same issue as the front. Looked at the other side and it seems to be ok. There wasn't much left where it bolts to the rubber grommet. Welded on the U part that holds the rubber grommet as that was some pretty good metal.
