wheel stud replacement

I usually double check my lug nuts for "excessive torquing" after the tire guys finish installing my tires. I figure its better to know now than during a road trip. One stud snapped off after I used extra effort to loosen a potentially cross-threaded stud. I could go back and waste about 4-6 hours discussing this with the service manager and waiting in line or fix it myself.
Any suggestions on how difficult it will be to remove the (REAR Wheel)broken stud from a 2002 Altima 3.5 SE? I am hoping I can knock it out without removing the rotor and information from the forum has stated ez tips for reinstallation using washers and a wrench, etc.
Thanks

Thanks for the tip on the rear disc. I will attempt to replace the relatively inexpensive stud/bolt as the retail price was very reasonable at the Nissan dealer.
