2000 Astro Power Door Locks Not All Working

Hello

I have a 2000 astro AWD The drivers door doesn't open with the keyless entry and sometimeS the bigger slider doesn't work either. THE passenger front and rear work perfect. I have a replacement part# DL22020256 for the front left @ 29.99 this is the complete door lock actuator. I have heard that you can but just the relay for these because that is the problem. some people have bought on e-bay , but it is said that wires need to be spliced to make this work. The cost for just the relay was like 5-10 bucks. Is this a good deal to go this wasy or just replace whole unit? Is this a big job or time consuming ? Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

ANY PART #S FOR THE RELAY WOULD HELP ALSO
Have a great day

A little diagnostics before you buy would be beneficial....so does the actuator just barely move--this is the most common- a sluggish actuator- which needs to be replaced--if no movement at all- then you need to test for power- and trace it back to the faulty component- or faulty circuit- or broken wire...

splicing in an actuator is no big problem- you will understand once you remove the door panel...

There are two relays for the power locks: one for lock, one for unlock. If any of the power locks are working properly, the relays are NOT the problem. As brcidd says, check voltage at each actuator that's not working properly. Disconnect the actuator and connect a voltmeter between the two wires in the vehicle harness. While operating the switch in both lock and unlock positions, the voltmeter should indicate battery voltage in both positions. If it does, the actuator needs replacement.

I just recently had the same problem on the drivers side door. First step would be to check for power. I had no power to slider...and found that the power wire between the door and the jamb was broken....under the bellows. Door lock would work when closed but would not when you opened the door.

On the side sliding door, the contacts sometimes get dirty and stop the electric door lock from working. I also had a problem on mine where someone had broken one of the contacts and I did not notice it. A simple fix.
