always figured the button on the side of the shifter was for overdrive on/off. noticed today that when it is depressed a light comes on showing "ets off".. what is this?

Well I have a 2000 and my button is on the dash. It is an electronic traction control. Helps grip when the drive wheel slips.

Yeah Blueflameguy2 that is your traction control, off it will spin more easily.
The newr grand ams its calles ETC with the button above the radio.
It can help when you need positive traction, or if you just want to eat up a set of tires. :lol:

thanks guys, thought it had something to do with electronic traction, but the "s" was throwing me off a bit...
