Shifter problems 99 Si

When I shift out of park the control feels stiff and I sometimes have difficulty moving through from park to reverse or from D4 back to park. If I move the lever quickly there is less resistance but if I go slowly I sometimes get binding. Transmission works real well and doesnt seem deffective but someone suggested that the cable is out of adjustment. I inspected the linkage and it seems O.K. so how do I adjust the cable to smooth this problem out. Or do I need to see a dealer?? :rofl:
