Hi, so recently I got into an accident which was considered my fault since I hit someone's back with my front.
From a glance, my front bumper and hood was damaged but not too damaged because I can still drive my car. (Embarrassing to drive though lol)
I went to get an estimate on my car damage yesterday and total damage came out to be $1900:
Front bumper
Absorber
Latch
Hood
$630
+1100 (Labor)Those 4 are the biggest ones. I plan on getting the repair done at a shop I know...I was just wondering if I can just replace the hood and latch. But, the estimate person said that everything besides paint is necessary for safety reasons. But is it really necessary to replace everything?
I mean, it's not like I'm going to crash again if I don't replace my front bumper + paint, am I?
PS:2001 Corolla

If your state or locality requires regular safety inspections then yes you'll need to replace them all. A failing hood latch while driving can be very bad. Try to look around the junkyards and used parts yards for bargains. As long as the body structure wasn't damaged, you can probly replace everything yourself for a lot less than what you were quoted...with a little sweat and maybe a good friend's help.
