So I'm in need of a car now and I need to fix my stepdad's 1988 Caprice. I hope you guys can help me out. My mom crashed the front into a truck and it got kind of messed up. :P

Anyways, you think you guys can help me find the parts that I need to buy with these pictures? I know it's hard because they are pictures, but name the ones you see, please. :)

Thanks, Alain

Looks like new header panel and grille time. Check the radiator support behind to see if it's damaged, doesn't look like it might be though. You haven't shown the hood so I don't know if you need one of those.

At any rate, it appears from your photos to be cosmetic, superficial damage.

Looks like you just need the header panel. Not sure if the radiator support was damaged or not but if it was then you'll need that too and maybe a radiator if it's messed up. Headlights look good which is a plus because it's easier to find a header panel without headlights sometimes. People take the headlights out and sell them because new they're somewhere around $100. Any header panel from 87-90 will do just fine.

That's what I'm talking about but I recommend checking your local junkyards. You should be able to find a 87-90 Caprice no problem usually and you can get the whole peice you need. It's real easy to remove and install. Can't remember exactly but maybe 5 bolts each side for top corner of fender and a few bolts each side to the radiator support. Just unplug all the lights from up there and it's not even that heavy either.

Quick question:

http://www2.partstrain.com/store/index.php?D=chevrolet+caprice+1988+&Ntt=chevrolet+caprice+1988+&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=Main&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&N=4294967257+2349&Nty=1

Can you guys tell me which radiator from there is ok to put on the car... I don't want to spend too much, but I don't want it to be crappy either.

Don't forget, the A/C condensor is in front of the radiator, and is more than likely shot. If you want A/C, that's gonna need to be replaced as well.

I would go for this one: SILLA2044-3

Ok thanks. Anything else? Also, do you see that metal thing going around the headlight on the last picture... where can I find that?

Those should also be available at a salvage yard. They are called 'headlight bezels'. From the pictures in your first post it also appears you need to replace the rubber/polyurethane filler panel between the header panel and the front bumper.

All that will be attached more than likely if you find one at the junkyard.

And once it's fixed, before you let your mom drive it again put one of these pushbar's on :)

ROFLMAO!

As an aside, from looking at the pic of my car there (Thanks Dees!), I have to let you in on one thing. Niether the hood, the header panel, the bumper nor the driver fender are original to the car. The hood and fender came from an '81 Impala, the bumper from an '84 Caprice and the header panel (complete with lights, filler strip, grille, bezels you get the point) from another '88. All because I T-boned a '90 Accord at 30MPH, causing him to go airborne and land on the hood, taking out the above mentioned items. The total cost of replacement parts? $275.

The pushbumpers didn't get hurt (as you can see), but one got ripped off the bumper (which remained straight but had torn metal on the top). I reused them.

The Honda was undriveable. All my car got was a black eye.

Whoa Silicon, makes me think a little more about getting one of those. I'd rather be caught with than without.
