Don't bother replacing the struts without new upper mounts. Also have the rear springs inspected, as they are prone to cracking and failure. There are companies that offer a complete "quick strut" which includes the strut, upper mount and coil springs. One is the Monroe Sensa Trac, but I'm not a big fan of them because the strut valving gives you a more wallowy ride compared to stock/OEM. After the struts are replaced (either front or rear), you will need an alignment , as Grand Prix's require a 4-wheel alignment.

It would help to post your mileage. If you have over 100K miles they are probably due for replacement. Also, try to stick with the OE Delco upper strut mount and load bearing especially on the front struts. The rears just have an upper strut mount that should be replaced but no load bearing.

ok thank you. and so i guess the real question i have is how do i make sure that the mounts are whats wrong. i took it to a shop and he said the sound the rear was makin was probably the strut mounts and i would like to be sure before spending so much money. and the front is starting to ride alittle rough and clunk badly like when im driving through our driveway and bumps etc. so how would i be sure they are worn out?? thanks so much. its aggravating
