My 2003 Envoy stalls only when both of the following 2 conditions are present:
The speed is below 20mph (or idle).
The air conditioner (or heater) is on.During these times is also when I have noticed the rpms fluctuate unusually, and the speedometer registers higher than I am driving. (Example: The speedometer will register 40mph while I am in stopped at a redlight.)
I'm not sure if the stalling and speedometer issues are related.
We've got trips planned this Summer.
My wife wants a new car.
Help!

Welcome to AF, clean the throttle body for starters, check the grounds on the l/s of the block also. Do this and post back what happens.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pretend that I was a mechanic. I am a mechanically inclined school teacher. I have fixed things on cars, appliances, computers, and other. (This is only because I am not afraid to tackle anything, and most things have some type of rhyme or reason or pattern. Figuring that out is the challenge.) Now that you may have a better idea of the level of ignorance you are dealing with, what is a throttle body? and what is the l/s of the block? Am I hopeless?

Good info inafogg, I would suggest using application specific CRC throttle body cleaner rather than carb cleaner.

TB cleaner will not leave a residue that can allow carbon to accumulate more easily, according to the MFG.
