I have a 2001 Chevy Prism - which is basically the Corolla. It's a great little car - Love it! It has 95K miles on it. I purchased it just a while ago so I don't have any vehicle history.
Does this thing have a timing belt or chain? If it does have a belt and it breaks - what happens? Any engine damage?
HELP !!!

Thanks for answer. I've been wondering if I was on "borrowed time" or not - since the car has 95k on it. Thankyou.

The maintenance schedule in the user manual will usually state if a timing belt needs to be changed...typically every 80k to 100k miles. If you don't see it listed, then it's probably a chain.

My friend has a Pathfinder (I think) V8 with the belt and just had the 90K service done and it cost a little over $900. bucks. Immaculate and first money she spent other than regular maintenance which that service is. NOTHING has broken and she bought the 100K mi warranty and the moon roof leaked and Toyota fixed it free. Those vehicles built like a tank and I love to drive it. :naughty:
Gets 24 on the Interstate so not bad for a heavy vehicle like that. Think it's an 2003 and not a mark on it.
