How do you know when to check...???

I'm just curious about everything about a new car; can someone tell when to check for signs for maintenance before it gets worst such as oil change, brake change, change spark plugs, change air filter, etc...? If you know a site where I can learn some of this stuff can you give me a link to it?

I really like the new car and I want to take good care of it. Thanks
