Hello my fellow lumina riders,
My wife's lumina 2001, is doing strange thing.
The AC is working just fine until she got over 50MpH and then start blowing just from bottom panel not from front or dual like before.
She told me it start happening last year sometime. That's what she said.
Now when the hot weather is approaching I would like to get AC working properly overal not just underneath 50MpH.
It's anoying when she drive over 50mph and AC is blowing from bottom for some time then after 10-15 minutes start blowing from front panel also.
Would like to have any advice on this matter if that make any sense at all to you knowledgeable guys.
I don't have a clue where to look and what to do.
Any help is more than welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Dino

I'd check for a vacuum leak first. Check the line to and from the vacuum reservoir located below the battery tray, kind of tucked up in the fender.

I agree completely with Jeff: I bet $50 it's the vac line running to/from the vacuum ball in the bumper. I noticed a lot of later model Luminas, particularly base model, suffer this problem. I don't know why, but 97-2001's seem to come in more for this problem.
A cheap $1 hose should fix the problem. The biggest issue is tearing out all the crap to get to it.

All W cars are subject to the battery degassing fumes- that make the vacuum line brittle- the vacuum line runs right beside the battery-- Heck, I have even seen the battery sitting right on top of the vacuum line--from an ace mechanic installing a new battery---it is still a small leak since it only does it at highway speed- bigger leaks go to defrost- all the time....
