After market stereo help

I decided to buy an after market stereo for my '98 Taurus LX. I got the Scosche Dash install kit online. My brother gave me his old Cdplayer, XDMR7700 to put in the car. When he gave me the radio, all that was with it, was a sleeve(which didn't fit with the Scosche kit) and the remote, and faceplate case(he had those two left in a box since he bought it maybe 2 or 3 years ago lol) Everything else that was with it, is left inside his old Ford Ranger, which I'm pretty sure is in the junk yard lol.

Anyway, I got the Radio put in to the scoshe kit, took a while to get it, but when I was about to give up, it slid just right and fit(little gap between the face plate and the mount, but nothing you'd notice unless you really looked.
I got all the climate controls put in, I put the adapter that came with the kit in. I ran the antenna cable and wire harness from the trunk to the radio. But haven't connected it to anything yet on either side.

This is where my trouble comes in.

The instructions are kind of vague, and its hard to understand without a diagram, or atleast to me lol.

From what it looks like it seems that I have to plug the Antenna extension directly int othe Antenna, which I looked at and it would work. And then it doesn't say what I'm suppose to plug the wire harness into, or what I'm suppose to disconnect or what. I tried plugging it into the box back there, but it appears they won't fit, am I suppose to plug it into one ofthe wires thats going to the box? One of them looks like the pins may align.

I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do with the bare ends of the wireharness up by the radio either.

Also, none of the coords fit into the players power supply? Am i missing a component?? if so would they sell it at Walmart, Bestbuy, or autozone?

My step dad wants to cut wires and rig it up, but I'm not sure i can trust him, he thought the RCA cables for the Aux input, were for power lol. I am just purplexed... my best guess is that the barewires fit into a missing adapter that goes with the radio itself.

I'd kinda like to get this done soon lol Tommorrow will be day 3.. Well technically, yesterday we got the radio out, prepared the radio to get put in, then it got dark. Today I ran the wires, and it got dark while we tried to figure out hte connnections. I'm pretty sure it's a missing wire, I hope its some cheap wire thats missing and thats all lol.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is the kit I bought, so you guys know what wires I got and all.

It would appear that the bare ends of the aftermarket deck would solder to the bare ends of the adapter that came with the kit. The connector end of the multi-wire harness would connect to one of the connectors at the Rear Control Unit (RCU) in the trunk. You will unplug one of the connectors from the RCU and plug it into the harness that you got with the kit. This bypasses the factory tuner and amp which is built in to the RCU.

So do I understand your first paragraph to say you don't have the wiring for the aftermarket deck your brother gave to you? That could be an issue....

-Rod Yeah No wiring from the the deck. Would they even sell that in the stores? or if they are interchangable with other brands.

Depending on the brand, it may be interchangeable with others. You may be able to buy a replacement wiring harness from a car audio store if it's a brand they sell.

Of course you don't really know if this free deck from your brother will work or if CDs will skip, etc. The cost of the wiring harness alone could approach the cost of a new deck with similar technology. Since it sounds like you're in a bit of a hurry to get this working, you should probably consider purchasing a new deck with all appropriate wiring.

I got it working...

I went out and bought a Jensen Reciever at circuit city. Was 69.99 online, 75 after taxes, came with 2 free 6.5in speakers, and i could get it within a half hour. Went to the store, the site screwed up and didn't register that I ordered the speakers. They had to "Return" the reciever and then ring it up again with the speakers for me, and when all was said and done it was only 45 bucks! 30 bucks saved lol Got home, got the new player working in a few minutes. So much easier when you have the right parts. Im just gonna give my brother back his stereo. He can pay the 34 bucks Dual wants for new cords lol.
