few problems with APV, maybe you can help

Ok, I have a 95 Lumina and the AC quits randomly. We could start it one day and it works and then the next time I start it it won't come on. It just blows on the defrost mode. I was thinking it might be the ac switch on the pump that is faulty but that would be a guess.

The passenger door won't open from the outside. I've taken it all apart and what I've found is that there is a metal rod that comes down from the outside handle and push's down on the lever but it keeps popping out when I open the door from the inside. When I put it back in, it pushs down on the lever but it doesn't open. I watch as I open it from the inside and I don't see why it won't open from the outside.

Power steering gets hard when the idle comes down. If I am pulling into a parking spot and I am barely moving, the steering wheel gets hard to turn. IF I brake and acclerate, slightly, then it gets easy to turn.

There is a set of control valves mounted on the blower motor housing, directly under the right hand side of the dash. The valves are mounted on a printed circuit board, they control the a/c/heater doors. Probably your problem. Check on your library,s computer bulletin board under E-Research- automotive, your vehicle type is listed there. under search ask for ac control valve and read info.

As for your door I have the same issue, I bought a push on washer from autozone... They look like little washer but there finned on the inside and the push on and have help for a couple months know... I bought the assorted pack...

we had the same problem and we ended up bending the small piece upward that the rod sits in and it hasnt came apart since then. but be very careful the piece is thin and may break easily
