Fast Idle Thermo Valve

I've been driving an automatic 1990 Honda Civic DX for 2 and a half years.
The Car has been great, but always idles really high before it is warmed up.
Especially if not used for a couple of days.
I realized that it will idle higher than normal when cold, but this is
really high, and I have to keep my foot on the brake pedal or it will take
off on me until warmed up.
Through reading forums and and other internet sources I have reason to
believe it may be the Fast Idle Thermo Valve. I realize there are other
possibilities!
I have seen a write up on other forums with pictures, and they show how to
screw in some kind of plunger in said FITV.
The problem is that the pictures show an Integra engine bay, not a Honda
Civic.
Apparently the FITV loosens up over time.
I have the Haynes manual, and have looked under the hood for the FITV, but
cannot find the damn thing!
I am not a mechanic, and have only done basics like 02 sensor, Cap, rotor,
ignition coil and spark plugs, etc.
Does anyone have a link with a picture, or a diagram or description for this
year(1990) Honda Civic in regards to the FITV?

You talking about the screw on the throttle body? It is covered with some type of silicon stuff if it has never been messed with. If its what I'm thinking about, it should be in the top left corner of the throttle body, but I have only adjusted it on a 93 Si Engine.

This is what I am on about.
I want to know where the Fitv is on my Honda Civic?
Can anyone give me a photo, or diagram of where it is?

Well since its automatic that makes it a dx, which has dpfi. If I recall through doing my wiring that would have to do with the tandem butterfly valve in the throttle body. Which uses a vacuum diaphragm on the backside of the intake with an electric solenoid valve. The hoses run into the "black box" and the diaphragm has a linkage directly to the throttle body arm.

On my d16a6 its located on the drivers side of the intake manifold. Bolted on back of the intake by the firewall. I have also read the writeup for the integra FITV BUT, our thermo valve differs from the style mounted on the throttle body that they show how to adjust. I have the same idling problem with my car so, I took the valve apart. Its just a spring. Nothing to adjust, nothing to screw back in, just a spring and a plastic seat for the spring. It also has an electrical plug on the bottom of it which tells me it probably has some sort of actuator motor built into it as well. So I woulkd just try to source a new or salvage one. Thats what im going to do I guess.
