a crunching like sound

Yes, on my 91 century, every now and then when I apply the brakes I am hearing a kind of like crunching/rattiling sound. I was wondering what this might be. I have always heard that brakes squeal when they go bad and have had my brakes replaced not too terribly long ago, but if that would be the problem, I sure do want to go ahead and get that fixed. It does not happen everytime I apply the brakes though. Can someone provide some insight on this, thank you in advance.

IF you bought cheap brand pads, it may be just a large chunk of metallic particle causing the noise as the pads wear down and expose them. If it happens quite often, you may have an issue with dirt or foreign material getting between the pads and rotors causing the noises. I would take the tires off and do a visual inspection, or if you had the work done somewhere, take it back and let them look at it.
