Fuel pump blues

Hey guys. I found out my spare pump is a 255 HP which is nice since I'll be running E85 and I can use all the flow I can get. Well, I went to work to get the old one out and sure as shit the part of the line where the flexible part of the feed line connects to the hard line coming out of the tank was corroded as hell. While trying to get it off, I managed to get a pin prick hole in that hard part of the line right near the base of the cover part. Get what I am saying? Well the 255 HP is still in the whole assembly from the donor car, which also had the hard line out of the cover snap but it was farther up the line. So I was thinking I would cut the hard line on the car right above where the pin prick hole is, straighten the end of the line out, straighten the end of the hard line on the other pump assembly, and make a band-aid of sorts with a piece of fuel line that would go over both of the ends of the line, then I would use small hose clamps to keep the outer line from leaking. Does that make sense? Would it work? I really dont want to have to buy a new SS feed line right now, that would really put a cramp in my style. Any info would help a ton thanks ya'll.

EDIT: So I feel like an idiot. I have read just about all of the articles on tuners that relate to engine an performance stuff, but I have not read this (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/98143-fix-broken-fuel-line.html) one. I read it and it seems like a solid fix, but if the way I asked about would work, then I would rather do that. So if you think my way will work please speak up, otherwise I'll just follow the tech article.

I think the fix in that link is pretty solid. I'd worry about your way leaking around the outside edge.

I would think you should be fine. Whats it going to hurt if it leaks a little bit. It wont cost much or anything to do so if it doesn't fix it then you just wasted some time. Its not like you would have spent a lot of money on a fix for it and it didn't work.

Worth a shot, but I would still feel better with a 10 dollar bulkhead fitting in there with some socketless/twistlock hose. You can try that trick in the article, and if you're not happy with the result or it leaks too much through that grommet at 4 bucks a gallon, you can drill it out for a bulk head fitting and go that route.

Yeah, I like that idea too. I agree, I was a bit worried about the grommet. I think I'll just see how I'm feeling once I get to that point, the last tank cover nut is not wanting to come off. :( I'm fed up with it, I am just going to take the dremmel to it tomorrow. Anyway, I guess I do think I will give my way a try, but I am going to keep an eye on it for sure.

I think I'll use like a 3" section of hose to go over the metal lines, with the metal lines like a half inch apart. I'll probably use two small hose clamps on each side just to be sure, that way I wont feel like I really have to wank each one down (potentially reducing the diameter of the metal line) to get it to seal. I also think I might use some silicone or something around the ends of the hose just for a little extra sealing. I'll have it open in like two weeks or so anyway to rewire the fuel pump, so I can double check it.

All you'll need to get the hose clamps to work is to give the ends of a metal line a slight bead. That will do more than 10 lbs of rtv.

Ok, so I CANNOT get the last bolt off my fuel pump cover. I've tried vice grips, minor filing, even JB welding the socket to the nut. Nothing has worked!! Anyone have any ideas? I'm about 4 seconds from just fuckin turning the tin snips on it, but I am worried about getting shit in the tank. Help!

Cut a slot in the nut and ship it. If you only lose one stud in this process you're doing better than most people.

Ok. I'll do it with my dremel and the little ass pointy carbine bit I have for it. You dont think I have to worry about igniting the fuel fumes do I?
