Hi! I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good custom exhaust for 1973 mach 1 with 351 windsor.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Welcome to AF, any good custom exhaust shop can make up the exh. from the headers back or a stock set up, this varies with engine mods and what you want in the degree of exh. loudness many good performance mufflers are available.

Thanks for the reply! I shoud say that the engine on my car isn't standard actually. The heads and the intake were port and polished, the ignition changed to msd, the carb is bigger so is air filter etc. The only thing i didn't touch was the exhaust cause i was afraid to lose the specific low mustang sound. Though now i feel it's not actually doing that much good to the car, maybe even spoiling the performance a bit. So i guess i'm looking for a complete exhaust system that might be a bit louder than the stock but no so over the top, cause it's not a dragster, you know...
Magnaflow, flowmaster, spintech, edelbrock...Where to go?

Loud is not the issue to get the most out of your mods, a decent set of headers and oversize pipes with a set of free flowing quiet muflers like Flowmasters and an H pipe.

Which headers to go for? Edelbrock? Holley?

Hookers! Generally regarded as the best available for the earlier hot cars, Hooker SuperComps would be the most power-producing. Doug's and Mad Dog are also VERY good. All of these are FAR suprior to the Edlebrock or Holley generic versions.
I don't know that I've ever seen a '73 Mach 1 with the Windsor engine. Are you certain it's not a Cleveland? Or maybe 302?
Check out "Pypes" for a complete system. No need for 3" on a car with the smaller engine. Many buy them and are disappointed., They will "hurt" low-speed power production, no matter how "good" they sound. 2 1/2" will suffice up to 500 CID and 600 HP.

Thanks, Jim! Yeah, i'm absolutely positive. It's a mach 1 with 351 windsor, bought it in Pj's autoworld in florida.
So "pypes" you say? Any difference between it and flowmaster? I quite fancy that flowmaster with super 40 muffler

if you are going to race the car and if its legal in your state...
i would put some glasspacks on the car.... oh by the way, nice choice on a car, i have the same model and it can withstand a lot of rust cause mine has
been sitting in a field since 1985 (it was my fathers) and it does not have much rust on it...
