I am looking at a nice 1996 Chevy Blazer 4X4 4.3L Vortec. New AC Compressor.
It blows out cold, but it does not blow hard at all, and the highest setting does not work?
I was thinking maybe the blower motor was old or just going bad, but I need to know for sure. I live in south florida and AC IS A MUST! I had a 99 Grand Am with the top setting not working and it turned out to be a resistor under the dash but I am not that familiar with the blazers so I need your advice on what this could be.
I was thinking...
Change Blower Motor
Have AC Fluid Checked (Refilled If Needed)
Chaning AC Switch (Dash Controlls)
Hoping this would fix my problem I would like some more opinions ASAP. I am looking at buying this blazer tomorrow. Thanks

sounds like the switch, but hard to tell, if the AC blows cold air, then recharging the system isn't needed, if it's a good deal, then a minor repair is acceptable

No high blower will be switch or relay or power to relay.
Swith relay with same no relay.
Check blower switch for switching high blower orange wire to relay from switch.
Check relay for fused link 12 volt power red wire.

if it works at all it is not a bad blower motor.Problem most likely high speed fan relay.

Ok i bought the blazer.
I pulled the AC controll switch out of the dash. I pushed the rubber vacuum hose plug in and it will not switch from settings and change speed, but them sometimes it won't. Blower is fine, however I hear a sucking noise coming from the switch where the vacuum lines hook up. I am now thinking its a bad switch.
What do yall think?

The fan blower switch is electrical.
A test light will tell you if it is good or bad.
Vacuum leak is another problem.
Find out where it is leaking vacuum also.

Ok is there a relay for the blower motor? The blower kinda blows but when I take the 2 prong plug out and put 12 volts to the motor is blows hard like it should. Could this be a relay and if so which relay so I can get a new one?
The compresspr comes off and on steady on for about 30 seconds then cuts off, then it comes on again constantly. Does this diagnose a problem?
The vacuum leaking it at the base of the switch where the vacuum lines hook up to the switch. I am guessing I should replace the switch first. If there is a blower motor relay replace it too. Then if the problem is still not fixed go from there.
Anyone??

Proper testing not throwing parts at it will tell you.
You may have two problems if you have a cacuum leak and no blower on high.
Get a test light or volt meter and check it out.
The blower motor switch switches the resister and the relay on and off.
A wiring diagram will help you on the electrical circuit.
Good Luck

look for the relay center in the engine compartment. Inside the cover will tell you which one controls each circuit.

Ok I replaced the ac control switch and it helped some but not much. Done a test on the resistor and its bad. I orderd a new one since none of the parts places around here had it in stock. Should be here tomorrow. I will let yall know how it goes. Thanks
