Throttle body bypass kit

Is there any performance gain whatsoever in these mods or are they just a scheme to make money? I personally just can't see that the warm coolant is gonna raise the air temperature very much more than the engine bay temperature. I was thinking there was a post somewhere about this but couldn't find it.

people debate on this all the time. I've seen the mod done before. my input is that, yes...with a CAI and a throttle body spacer it would make a world of difference. you have 200 degree coolant flowing through the throttle body, and its warming up the air to a pretty good extent. the only good reason the feature is on there...is for the people who live in places like me...I.E up north, were temps get real cold in the winter. this prevents the TB from freezing up.

Okay then. Well I live in North Alabama where it gets in the upper 90's in the summer so I can see some benefit from it. However, it also gets in the 20's in the winter. Would that hurt the car to leave it on year round if I decided to put it on? Also I don't intend to put a throttle body spacer on it so that's what I really wanted to know about the mod. I don't have a CAI. I just have a short ram pulling air from right behind the driver headlight so I don't have air temperature any cooler than stock. I wanted to put one but just couldn't see dropping 250 on an intake. And at that time I couldn't find one for the car. So would the bypass help any without the CAI and no spacer? I saw someone has it on ebay for like 15 shipping and everything so if it does anything at all its worth that much.

well...you have a GT, so a TB spacer wouldnd be needed. thats more less to keep the heat from the supercharger away from the TB.

if it gets to be 20 degrees in the winter...idk if i recommend doing it, unless your not going to be driving the car in the winter.

That's what I figured. And it's not always 20 degrees in the winter but it does get below 40 most of it. And I don't see myself wanting to remove it in the winter and reinstall in the summer. Normally taking something off and back on and off and on weakens something in the process. I think I'll just drop 100 on a reprogrammed pcm and just enjoy the difference that will make. Cause I know the small mods are nothing that will make a huge difference unless you are already modded out fairly good and just tryin to cut time. I'm just trying to make it a quicker street car - no races. If it was a gtp I would probably do much more to it.

are all grand prix capable of having this done? i took a look at mine and theres no hose running to the throttle body.

There's no hose cause the passages are all internal.
