I have a Dodge Ram 1500, the right lower control arm has a crack. I noticed it while changing the springs, it cost about $400. to replace. But I want to know if it can be welded. <---- :banghead:? I've seen shows on vehicle modification and I have seen them modify control arms and I have seen them weld on them. Please help really dont feel like spending $400. but if I have to oh well no big deal, just rather spend the money on something else.

i'd check the alignment & if its ok i dont see a problem with welding

If it were me I would find an aftermarket part that is better quality then the stock one. in this case I would get a set of DT Profab control arms it’s a complete kit that replaces all four front control arms. They are stronger then stock and use replaceable poly bushings. The poly bushings also help tighten up the steering which a dodge can always use improvements on. This is the site. I have bought a track bar and steering brace from them and was very impressed with the quality. This is the address their home page isn’t working right now but this should work. http://www.dtprofab.com/DT_DODGE%201.htm (http://www.dtprofab.com/DT_DODGE%201.htm)

Or you can go to your nearest auto wrecking yard and get an used one.Make sure it is in good shape by inspecting it.

I agree go to a yard and get a good used one. A good mig welder could fix it but unless he is certified you are taking a chance. Sometimes you don't get a second chance.

find one at a junkyard if you take it off you should be able to get it for the price of somebody [that can weld] welding it.but if you get it welded at least get it welded by a person that can weld.and i've always heard to take the battery cables off the battery before they weld on it.
