hey guys,
i am glad to find this forum, and i hope you could help me out.
i drive a highlander that is 3 and 1/2 yrs old now and it is on a lease (4 years). late last year it got rust in it and the dealer fixed it under the complete 3 yr warranty that comes with any car but the repair was done with no guranatee and i was told that upfront .. i had talks with the bodyshop tech and i told him that i would return it to the dealer when the lease is over.. i asked him if i had to spray it or anything but he assured me that it is unlikely that it would rust again that fast.. so i took his word and didnt rust-proof the car.. today i just noticed that the rust began to show up again in the same spots that were repaired .. i was so devastated when i found that out .. now that the lease is close to an end, i guess they will not just take it back with rust on it unless i pay for the repair, and it did cost a lot of money that time when they fixed it (approx $3000).. i dont know what to do guys.. please help.. should i go now and rust-proof it ? probably it is too late and proofing will be useless .. should i fix it ? i hate body shops, they will charge me more than what they charged the dealer as i was told that before .. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thx

the repairs made to the vehicle should carry a 12/12 warranty. as long as the car was covered under the original warranty the repairs are warranted for a yr from date of repair

i am not sure about the 12/12 warranty.. the invoice they gave for the repair clearly states that there is no guranatee on rust repairs, and i had signed on something like that before they worked on the car.

i'm not sure what you signed.... but the dealer stands behind repairs for 12/12 if the original repairs are made under the normal wty.Good Luck
all though im not sure about canada, but i believe should still be the same
