Here are some updated pictures from today. I got the wiring harness done for obd1. Had to splice the two harnesses together practically. Everything is mounted up and ready to be lifted into the car tomorrow.

def a nice job painting, not my fave color, but it's still neat and clean.
I'm seriously going to paint everything under the hood that's metal "stove black" on my next engine. that's if I don't take the castings in for black nitride dip... then paint whatever I don't get dipped.
I pretty much just wanna keep everything dark and unnoticed as much as I can... make it harder for ppl to identify parts and such... other than that, I don't like shiny stuff. lol.

I can buy B-series around here for 3-500 usually, just have to find the right ppl... some die-hard USDM fans out here that only drive Acura's... they're gold mines for upgrades for our cars.

wire/hose tuck, a lil more paint under the hood, and you'll be looking alot better... I love how the B-series engines look under the hood of a EF... fills out more, I think.
I'm pretty sure my next EF (hopefully another CRX, possibly another sedan) will be LS/Vtec all motor.

Well, I got it started this morning. Tried last night but wasn't getting any spark. Bought a new distributor today ($200 later) and it fired right up. I was glad it wasn't my wiring - lol. Everything seems to be running good. It has a little whine to it - kinda sounds like a supercharger. I haven't been able to pin point it down yet. I have 2 sensors I have to rewire. The o2 sensor looks like a universal so I had the wiring wrong, and then the coolant temperature switch for the radiator fan needs to be moved to a difference sensor next to the thermostat. Other than that everything seems to be working. All the timing lined up and set properly. Idle seems smooth. The mounts are a little stiff for my taste. Anything above idle and the car vibrates like crazy. I'm going to try the innovative mounts here in a few months and see if they are better.

speaking of mounts, how much HP will the stock rubber mounts handle? cuz I'm thinking I love the fact that Honda's (when built properly) run so smoothly, with relatively no noise/vibration... and if they'll hold up to 250 - 300 HP, I'm thinking that I might just keep the stockers instead of going w/ solids.

Dropzone, I don't think they can handle those numbers. I have busted good stock mounts with a stock motor before, there is just too much flex there on some of the mounts. I hear 3m Window sealer(the urethane for windshields) works pretty good, don't know about vibrations though. I don't think my mounts are that bad, but Zachzula says different...I'm just used to it.

I kept my stockers and used energy suspension inserts. so far so good! When it idles rough I get al ittle shake in the car..but if you were to look at the engine, and then sit inside the car. You wouldnt think they were part of the same thing..so its not a big deal, and when im driving I dont really even feel any vibrations from the engine. My exhaust is another beast entirely.

I'm actually going to use black urethane gun-grade sealant... it's a thing we use at work... I'm just going to dremel the surfaces inside the stock mounts, and then shoot the caulking in with my bulk gun and slick it sealed, so I will have solid rubber/urethane mounts, but still have some flex to absorb vibration.
KoD, I've been working 50+ every week, and any time I have the time to get the car cleaned up, and get pics taken, I find other things that need to be done... like fixing up the extra room in my friend's house so we have a place to sleep instead of occupying the game room.
Soon enough, I'll have pics... but it doesn't look the greatest right now.. it's looking like a 1/4 done project in serious need of attention.

I don't have the video - I forgot to record it and I'm kinda pissed. The Story - at 2am in the morning I had everything setup and ready to fire. I started recording and the car wouldn't start - no spark. So I had to wait till the next morning to go get a new distributor. I was leaving on a trip that same day so I was rushed to get the car going and forgot to get the startup on the camera. I'm so bummed.

I agree, thats what me and my buddy did with his Eclipse Start up video, we got it started, fixed a few bugs then restarted it, and recorded the second one. :p

That's what alot of ppl do, so they don't look like idiots when the thing starts and runs for a sec, then does something stupid and stalls completely, and they can't get it restarted.

how much did you have to do to get it to fit? (mounts, wiring, etc.) I've seen quite a few b16/b18s in the junkyard I could get for cheap on half off weekend
4G4D Store
06-25-2008, 10:45 AM
Well, I had to do some extra wiring because I converted to obd1. But I had to do new mounts, shift linkage, and axles. The axles are standard integra axles, the shift linkage and mounts are custom. You can't use the factory teg parts.
Tony
06-25-2008, 11:50 AM
When I did my swap, the only wiring was MPFI wiring. I used a OBD0 computer to keep it simple. I got Yonaka(I think thats how you spell it) mounts off eBay for like $150. I made my own linkage using the Integra shift linkage, you just need to cut it and shorten it. As 4g4d said, the axles are just stock integra axles.

My whole setup that I got from a friend for $200 had an obd1 computer so I just bought the adapter harness and rewired the harness for obd1 injectors and obd1 distributor. Wasn't too bad really. Only issue that I still have to sit down and figure out is the tps issue.

there's a few b18b's at the junkyard and I should be able to get everything for about $150 on half price weekend.... would it be worth it to buy and rebuild?

You could probably sell just a block for that. I would say to go for it. If nothing else, you could turn a profit on eBay. Heck, the core value of the axles would be about that much.
