Car buying help!

Hey everyone
I need some advice on buying a vehicle. I am trying to decide on whether to get a car or a truck. In a year or so I know that I will be starting to race cars so I will have to get a full size truck for that. But since they get such low fuel mileage I want a separate vehicle for my daily driver. So I am trying to decide on whether to buy a small truck(Ford Ranger) or a car(Pontiac Grand Am or Chevy Monte Carlo) for my daily driver. The Ranger gets 27 MPG hwy and the Monte Carlo gets 32 & and the Pontiac gets 34 MPG hwy. On one hand I feel like I should get one of the cars because of better gas mileage but on the other hand I like trucks better and having a small truck would always be handy. The main place I drive a lot to is school which means 154 miles a week. I ride with my parents to Mass and pretty much any thing else I do on a regular bases is no farther then 5 miles from my house. What do yall think would be best? I am having a hard time choosing because I have always been a pick-up man.

Since you don't drive much and would prefer the truck, then get the truck. Rangers are a great choice if you want a truck that still gets decent fuel economy.

You should get the truck since you'll be needing or wanting one in the future. But be prepared to pay even more for the gas!

My advice is always go with what you truly want. A car purchase is a big commitment and you don't want to be stuck in something that you really didn't want. I don't think the difference in MPG of the cars you listed is big enough of a factor to make that be the primary influence of your purchase.

As Pm Powers has mentioned you dont need to have an eye on gas consumption because you are not going to drive for hours frequently...If you are not, then you better go for the truck.....Anyways here is the link for those car reviews.......look in to it and decide by yourself because you are one going to use it....link removed by Moderator
