How to replace brake light in 1999 Corolla

The left brake light in my Corolla 1999 won't come on when I press the brake. I looked at the light from inside the trunk, but there didn't seem to be an easy way to get access at the bulb/lamp.

How can I replace the light source in the brake light? Should I even attempt this if I'm moderately handy, or should I take the car to the service?

Thanks.http://automaticallyyours.com/icons/smiley17.gif

Remove the plastic corner panel that's inside the trunk covering the back of the light assembly and reach in with your fingers and remove the bulb and socket. From the back it's easy to confuse whether you are removing the brake light, the backup light or the blinker light socket so it would help to have an assistant step on the brakes or turn on the parking lights etc. to make sure you've got the right bulb. Installation is the reverse of removal . . .
