18 should be the limit if all you're concerned about is speed, 19 are the best looking on a Max if you are taking it to the limit, 20 are too big but congrats on the 18's 99maxse.

So you think there is a significant difference in speed with regards to 18s and 19s? I can't believe that 18s wouldn't slow you down either. Besides you don't get big wheels to go fast, you get lighter smaller wheels.

It is a well-known fact that the bigger the wheel which equals more rotational mass (in other words, it takes the tire longer to make a revolution) the less power you are going to put down to the ground faster.
You will notice some speed loss although it won't be as significant going from one size up to the next but if you were to go from 16 to 19 you'll definitely feel the difference, also it will penalize your fuel consumption slightly.

the sacrifices we make for show:D i really7 cant tell any differences in the ride on my max. stock i had the 16" s star which i still have . then went to 17" now to 18". i really dont think that is a big diff. between 17" or18" performance wise.:smoka:

I was referring to a jump from an 18" to a 19". You can't tell me there will be a significant change in anything performance-wise or fuel consumption wise just based on that 1". And do you think that a 18" wheel that weighs 50lbs is going to be faster than a 25lb 19" with the overall same diameter (with tire)?

The stock rims on my SE came chromed or zinc plated, or something.. something that the previous owner up and did for it. So, I'll still be able to keep the flashy thing going on during the winter.

My old MOMOs weighed 48lbs and were only 17s. So ya there are heavy chrome wheels out there.

no i hear you ! thnere are heavy wheels out there.. probably more of a forged steel wheel in chrome than aluminum. but at least they wont bend or dent if u hit a bad ditch or pothole. some wheels like arent made for every road conditions. most of the italian wheels are made lightly, but can bend or dent on bad road conditions. sometimes its a catch 22:D

Not saying that to be so with a lighter wheel of bigger size but of a bigger wheel with equal or heavier weight than a smaller wheel obviously yes.
In this case of a 19 that is lighter than an 18 I'd say no.
your 18's equaled=200lbs
your 19's equaled=100lbs
should be obvious what advantages you have.
Good luck though
