i have a 1990 3/4 ton 4x4 extended cab pickup and recently had a brain fart of converting it to a dually? i was giving a dually pickup box that is in darn good shape but i was curious if any one has tried this and what it took and any problems they ran into. thanks for the info!

I have been told that the frame raills on the ton-trucks are narrower than on 1/2 and 3/4 ton models. I think the reason for that is so there is room for the dually wheel, which goes much further inboard than a single wheel. So you would have to solve the problem of mounting the bed, which may not be too hard with some welding skills. You may also have the issue of the inner wheel/tire rubing on the spring.
I would try to install a dually wheel on it before you decide anything, if it does fit, the bed wouldn't be all that hard.
Depending on the axle in yours, your present single tires may already be rated for more weight than the axle, and if they are, all dually wheels would do is make it harder to park, turn, and drive.

actually its the leaf packs that are closer to each other on the 1 tons, not the frame rails
you would need the correct 1 ton leaf hanger frame brackets and shackles and so on
good luck
