Hi there,

I have a 2000 2.2 s10 with 100kmiles. I recently changed the ignition module the 2 coils the plug wires, plugs, fuel pump, fuel filter and the Throttle position sensor. My check engine light is not on and the problem that i have is that my truck will stutter big time when i take of or when i am at a constant speed and that i keep the throttle in a certain position if i let off the gas or if i try to speed up the stuttering stops. any ideas ????

ok so when you put the new throttle position sensor in did you turn it or change the position of iif so you have to figure out where it was at stock

does it have an adjustment on it and the truck ran fine for about 2 weeks until the problem came back.

the sensor has like a gear in it that tells it the position fo the sensor just simply turn the sensor unbolted but in the spot where it goes and turn the sensor untill its in the correct position then take the sens or outt and put it back in and tighten it back down make sure the gears dont mesh

the sensor has a flat spot on it like a key way and the friggin thing is spring loaded. but i am leaning on the same answer as you i might have bought a new defective TPS.

yeah its going to be spring loaded for about a quater of a turn to about a half of turn keep turning it and it should turn it

how far am i going to have to turn it and it only stutters when i am pressing lightly on the gas if i let off or accelerate the stuttering stops. and it`s like i said it worked fine for 2 weeks until the same problem came back again. if it wasn`t in the same spot and the original the problem would have been there from the start.

its kind of and adjust and feel promblem dont turn it more than a quater turn at a time after the intial spring loaded part just adjust it a little bit at a time if gets better then keep adjust just watch puting it to far foward that will raise your rpms and waste your gas and we know thats the last thing we want to do right now

yeah but it`s spring loaded right from the start and it wont go any further than about 5/8 of a turn.

right amm hook it up to the vehical like your going to instal just dont bolt it up and turn it that way your actually turning the on the throttle

yeah but if i turn it before bolting it on, it wont go on anymore the keyway is wayyyyyy off........ ?????

thats the touching part you only have that 5/8s play room till you have to turn it a full turn

there must be something that i am not understanding the way i am looking at it is that there is only one way that the TPS can go on there are no slots on the sensor for me to be able to bolt it on in different positions and the shaft coming the throttle body does not turn unless i give it some gass.

ok the spring on the tps when you put it up agianst it is able to be turn and then will spring back there should be only one way to bolt it on and you have to play with it til it boltes up and it can all ready have tension on the spring when your bolting it up if needed

Yeah it bolts up fine and it`s like i said it idles real good and when i floor it it`s fine i have no power loss. It realy only does it on slow accel and at a constant speed any other way that i drive, it wont sputter.

you miight try a differnt tps

you might try a new tps or a different one

your TPS may have a dead spot [the resistance goes to open] use meter measure resistance as throttle is moved resistance should increase and decrease without jumping to open....

Do you know between witch pins i need to measure there are 3 one ground one 5 volt constant and the other .... ?????

Most sensors I have ever installed had to be set with the computer.Pay the mechanic to set it for you.Only takes about 30 min.

remove connector and place ohm meter across the terminals until the resistance varies when moving the throttle.....if the resistance jumps then the tps has a defective/worn spot.....the resistance will increase in value...
the computer should self adjust after a while...you cannot adjust the defect out of the tps....when moving the throttle the resistance should vary smoothly.....if not get another and test before installing...
