97 S-10 sending unit

Whats the best way to tackle this. Drop the tank or raise the box? Thanks.

First step is be sure it is the sending unit bad?
Got good ground?
And run a full fuel pressure test on the fuel pump.
Then figure up how many miles on the old fuel pump.
You may want to kill two birds with one stone and just replace the fuel pump module with the updated change over wiring to.

Pull bed or drop the tank is a 50-50 deal.

If you have the jacks and jack stands and tools drop the tank is best.
Not many jacks or stands and tools but a few people to lift bed and set back that is the way to go.

Removing the box eliminates the need to deal with rusty fuel tank straps. It also reduces the possibility of disturbing rust on the tank and causing a fuel leak. 3 or 4 people can lift the box off very easily. It's not heavy, just bulky. Have some jack stands ready to set the box on.
