23 vs. 26 spline cv axles

i have a 91 hatch std w/ d15b2 and 4sp trans , my driver's side axle needs replaced and i got one a parts store and it had 26 splines , mine has 23 and theres was slightly shorter, so what application do these two axles have? is the 26 for the automatic trans or 5 speed?

Well the civic std with the 4 spd and the crx hf with a long geared 5 speed both have the smaller axles. Thats all there is to it. Either you get the right size axle. Or you upgrade the hubs to the larger ones from a civic dx si lx or ex.

This I know....

26 Splines is equal to the Pink Stripe Axle or in my case an all stock 90 DX Hatch D15B2 with a 5 speed tranny. I wondered the same thing, but ordered a 26 spline axle online and it worked perfect.
