Hey Guys, got sort of a wierd thing going on with my car....
Just recently bought a 3.5" supercharger pulley, autolite 605 plugs, and a 180 degree t-stat. Installed all this the same day it arrived.
Finally met up with my friend to borrow his pulley puller to swap out the supercharger pulley. Yesterday did it. Everything went great, nice easy install. (Thanks Bob for the instructions)
Today I filled up with gas (92 octane) and reset my DIC. Then I took on about a 10 mile drive. When I stopped noticed my DIC fuel milage... 38MPG!!!!!!!!!!
I couldnt believe what I was seeing. The car for some reason is getting WAY better milage. I was used to 32mpg topps highway and 24 city, 26 combined. Now its like 35-38 highway, and 27-28 combined.
Whats going on? Is this just a glitch? Or do I have a "factory freak"
Anyone else notice this. I wasnt using any boost from the supercharger for the whole trip. Could this be the reason I was getting such good milage?
Also would someone tell me about ZZP downpipes? I want to order one sooo bad, especially now they are offering the 50.00 zzp credit with returning your old downpipe.
If I got a bolt in downpipe, this would delete the u-bend, correct, and do I need to get one with an O2 sensor bung? How do I know I'm ordering the right thing?
Would someone who has ordered one already just be kind enough to go thorugh the options here (http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=551&catid=110) and just tell me what I need to order?
Thanks!
Figure I'll take that 50.00 credit and turn right around and order a ZZP 1.0 PCM. Sound like a plan?
Appreciate any info guys!!!!

Can't help with much, but I do know that if you get the DP it will delete the u-bend (pisses me off because I spent $200 JUST deleting the u-bend (don't ask lol) when I could of gotten the whole DP for about $175). And 38 MPG highway is sick haha. Sounds like a factory freak or something glitchy with your DIC, I'd do it on paper to see if it's accurate.

Yeah I think the MPG thing was partly because the wind was at my back. But still seems kinda high. I've never seen it like that before!
I'm gonna reset my DIC tomorrow before I leave for work. 30+ miles away mainly highways whith like 10 stoplights. I'll see what the DIC says then.

Burtnette, did you ever figure out your poor milage problem for a while back? Just curious... what was the problem?

Wow! Big deal.
You think the $50 credit is a good deal Tim? I don't. :grinno: All they want is the CAT converter back which they will get recycled for the platinum. You do know you can put your CAT converter up for sale on EBay and get around $150 for it. I sold my son's OE CAT converter last month we pulled from his Alero since the header package I installed came with a hi-flow CAT and 2.5" DP at a high bid of $146.00. :grinyes:
For a limited time ZZPerformance will be giving out $50 coupon codes for returning your stock downpipe to ZZP for catalytic converter recycling. You don't even have to pay for return shipping! Simply select "prepaid return label" from the drop down and we'll send you a return shipping label with your purchase. Then put your old downpipe (or just the cat) in the package that the new one comes in and drop it off at any UPS shipper. We'll email you a coupon code good for $50 off of your next ZZP purchase! Returned units can be cut up but the OEM converter must be intact. Already bought our downpipe? We'll still offer the $50 coupon code but you'll have to pay for the return shipping. To take advantage send to:
ZZPerformance
Attn: Core Returns

For everyone: Include your original order # and email address to send the coupon code. Write down your return tracking number for your records!

Hmmm, I knew there were some precious metals inside the converter, just never knew they were worth that much, especially used ones.
Maybe I'll just hang onto it for now. Never know if someones will plug up and come to me for a new one.
Thanks for the heads up!

Maybe I should order the prepaid return label from the for the downpipe for free, and save it for when I order a PCM, and use the free lable to ship back the PCM core. HA HA
Bob, you said your not a fan of ZZP PCM's? What kind of PCM would you rather have?

For Stage 1 mods which is typical street the (Digital Horsepower) DHP v1.0. IMO ZZP is too radical on the way it programs line pressure and there were issues concerning that. I currently have an Intense custom programmed in my GTP. My spare DHP PCM has been tuned with a DHP Powertuner that I got for a steal and may use it periodically. My Regal GS has the DHP v1.0. My son's Alero has the DHP v1.0.
Recycling CAT converters is now big business to include extracting the precious metal. Platinum hit a high of over $2000 per troy ounce earlier this year. Also, CAT converter thefts have increased nationwide. These thieves are just cutting off CATs and leaving the vehicle intact. So you can see why ZZP is offering this so called deal now.
Also forgot to mention technically it is illegal for a servicer to install a used CAT converter on any car.

Very good to know about the ZZP PCM's! Dont want to mess up my tranny. Its just totally not worth it. Since right now its still shifting like champ even with 90,000 on it!
Also, thanks for the info on the cat converters! I will defenatly research this a little more before I purchase anything.
Great Information Bob, thank you!
