Cruise control.

On my quest to get better mpg, I cruise with the cruise control set and when I come to my turn, I tap the brakes which disenages the cruise and I coast to my turn. Could I just flip the cruise off directly from the switch? Like just turn it off and not hit the brakes to trip it? Would it be harmful in any way?

Unrelated: Also, where it the EGR valve at?!

'96 Olds Ninety-Eight, 275,000 miles, non supercharged 3800 Series II V6, stock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I never tap the brakes to disable cruise- I don't like showing my brake lights to those behind me when I'm not truly braking! It annoys me to see cars in front of me do it that way-- Have always used the switch- so it is your choice--

As long as I'm not hurting anything, I'd prefer not to tap the brakes either.
