My neighbor is selling an '89 RS v6, all original, 100k on the car, cheap paint job about 6 years old, and nothing special about it like T-tops, rims, sound system etc...
he's asking 2000 obo. is that a fair asking price? or what would be a fair asking price?
also, a v6 is way to slow, and i recently just pulled a 350 out of my '68 camaro SS... what would all have to go into swapping the v6 for my 350? just how much has to be changed around? parts needed? and how expensive do you think it will turn out to be? any info or advice would be great. thanx
oh, and i am currently driving a 2000 grand am GT 3.4L. what do you think is faster when totally stock, the '89 v6 camaro or the 2000 grand am v6? im hoping the camaro is at least a little faster..... any opinions?

You would have to change out the springs and struts on the front to handle the added weight. You would have to get rid of the v6 radiator and install a heavy duty radiator with heavy duty fans. You would have to change out the rear end with crappy gearing if you want good off the line acceleration and eliminate one wheel wonders. You would have to change out the fuel pump to match the v8 thirst. You will have to buy headers and a muffler system to accomodate a v8. I wouldnt drive the car with a cheap paint job after I finish hooking it up so that means a paint job in the near future. You have to use a transmission that has a v8 bell housing. You're going to need different motor mounts and brackets as well. If you dont mind doing alot of work and spending alot of money then go for it..
I have a 91 camaro rs that I just recently put a ramjet 350 in...I personally like the body kit that the rs came with. I put alot of money and time into it and i still have work to do. Im looking into purchasing a high amperage alternator to handle the draw of the 50 amp fans I just installed and my sound system draw.
The good thing is that you can stick a big engine in the compartment that fits your budget so your grand am wont even come close to matching the performance. I dont think the 350 out of your 68 camaro is going to match the grand am...I would definitely haggle with the pricing...look around...try ebay I just saw one go for a thousand bucks. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I have that same exact car but with a 305.... The Cradle is different with the V6 engine, so putting any V8 will be very difficult. You will have to totally redo the cradle... Not to mention the conversions from the computer control to having a mechanically controlled engine.
I'm not saying it can't be done... It will just take a ton of time and money, or an extra amount money.... And did I say money?
